Rinn's Star

The Story

Rinn McCrea was a Starfarer whose contract as an indentured telepath belonged to the Chinese. The Chinese were highly displeased when Rinn's ship was attcaked by the aliens of Delta Bootis and her crewmates killed. Worse, Rinn then sought refuge on the Soviet Ship 'Zvzeda' The Soviets considered all telepaths criminals, but they were willing to use Rinn's talent to repair their ruptured trade relations with the aliens. The plan was complicated by the telepath Enclaves, who demanded the renegade Rinn's loyalty and fought to retuen her to their control. Rinn herself wanted to escape from a life of isloation and hatred, Captain Yuri Selenkov of the 'Zvezda' offered her the choice for a new future - but to earn it, Rinn would have to break the most fundamental commandment of the Starfarers' code...
