Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 23 August 2026
These terms govern your use of qasralthaqafa.com and any order you place with us. Please read them before buying. By placing an order you accept these terms.
1. Who we are
Qasr Al-Thaqafa is a second-hand and antiquarian bookseller based in Salmiya, Hawalli Governorate, Kuwait, trading at qasralthaqafa.com. You can reach us at customer.support@qasralthaqafa.com.
2. The books we sell
We sell used, vintage, rare, and collectible books. Three things follow from that, and they matter:
- Each listing is a single physical copy. When it sells, the listing is gone. We do not restock.
- Condition varies and is described per copy. Age-related wear is normal in second-hand books. We describe defects we find, and our refund policy covers anything we miss.
- Images show the actual copy wherever possible. Where a stock image is used, the listing text takes precedence over the photograph.
3. Orders
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract forms when we confirm dispatch, not when you receive an order confirmation email. We may decline or cancel an order if:
- The book is no longer available, including where it sold through another channel first
- The listing contained a pricing or description error
- We cannot ship to your address, or the order fails our fraud checks
If we cancel an order you have paid for, we refund you in full. That is the limit of our liability for a cancelled order.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in Kuwaiti dinar (KWD) and include any tax we are required to charge. Payment is taken through our payment provider at checkout; we do not see or store your full card details.
Shipping is charged separately and shown before you confirm your order. For international orders, customs duties and import taxes are set by the destination country, are payable by you, and are not included in our prices.
We may change prices at any time, but a change never affects an order we have already accepted.
5. Shipping and delivery
Available shipping methods, costs, and estimated delivery times are shown at checkout for your destination. Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees; once a parcel is with the courier its progress is outside our control.
Risk passes to you on delivery. If a parcel arrives damaged, tell us within 7 days and our refund policy applies.
6. Returns and refunds
Our refund policy forms part of these terms. In short: 7 days from delivery to request a return, and a full refund including return postage whenever a book was not as described.
7. Your account
If you create an account, keep your password confidential and tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend an account we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use this site to break the law, and specifically not to scrape or bulk-copy our catalogue data or listing descriptions, interfere with the site's operation or security, or place orders fraudulently or on someone else's payment details.
9. Intellectual property
The site design, our logo, our catalogue descriptions, and our photographs belong to us and may not be reproduced commercially without permission. The books themselves are second-hand goods; buying one gives you the physical object, not any rights in its contents, which remain with the copyright holder.
10. Liability
We take our descriptions seriously and we stand behind them. That said, to the extent the law allows, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit or loss of an anticipated resale.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under applicable law.
11. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here when you place your order, so the date at the top matters. Material changes will not be applied retrospectively to orders already accepted.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait, and the courts of Kuwait have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are buying as a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove protections you have under the mandatory law of your own country.
14. Getting in touch
For any question about these terms, or about an order, write to customer.support@qasralthaqafa.com. We would always rather hear from you than have you dispute a charge.
