Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit or buy from qasralthaqafa.com, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
The short version: we collect what we need to send you a book and to run a shop. We do not sell your data.
Who is responsible
Qasr Al-Thaqafa, based in Salmiya, Hawalli Governorate, Kuwait, is responsible for the personal information described here. For any privacy question, write to customer.support@qasralthaqafa.com.
What we collect
When you place an order: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number where you give it, and the details of what you ordered. Payment card details go directly to our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
When you browse: your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and how you move through the site. This arrives through cookies and similar technologies.
When you contact us or create an account: whatever you choose to tell us, plus your account credentials in encrypted form.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Why we use it
- To take payment, pack your order, and get it to you
- To send order confirmations, dispatch notices, and answer your questions
- To handle returns and refunds
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse of the site
- To understand which parts of the catalogue people actually use, so we can improve the shop
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations
We send marketing email only if you have asked us to. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your ability to order.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with parties who need it to make your order happen:
- Shopify, which hosts this store and processes orders on our behalf
- Our payment provider, which processes your payment and performs fraud checks
- Shipping and courier companies, which need your name and address to deliver your parcel, and customs authorities where a shipment crosses a border
- Professional advisers and authorities, where we are legally required to disclose
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own purposes.
Where your information goes
We are in Kuwait, our store platform and service providers operate internationally, and we ship worldwide. Your information may therefore be processed in countries other than your own, including where you order from outside Kuwait. We use established providers who apply recognised safeguards to those transfers.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep your cart working and you signed in, to remember your preferences, to keep the site secure, and to gather anonymous statistics about how the site is used.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the essential ones, the cart and checkout will not work.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax, and warranty purposes, which is generally several years, and then delete or anonymise them. Account information is kept until you ask us to close your account. Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
- Stop sending you marketing
- Restrict or object to how we use your information
Email customer.support@qasralthaqafa.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, so that nobody else can obtain your data by pretending to be you.
If you are in a country with its own data protection authority and you are unhappy with our response, you have the right to complain to that authority.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted connection and payment data is handled by our provider under their own security standards. No system is perfect, and we cannot promise absolute security, but if a breach ever affected your personal information we would tell you and the relevant authority without undue delay.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the shop changes or the law does. The date at the top tells you the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will make that clear rather than quietly reissue the page.
