Youth Ministry That Works: Practical Ideas For Working With Young People

The Story

Youth Ministry That Works offers an exciting new model for engaging the faith and energy of young people. In Father Boran's model, young people are addressed at their level of faith commitment, always considering their interests and their problems. Young people are than challenged to pass through different levels of commitment to the gospel. Emphasis is placed on the development of a personal faith that expresses itself in concrete actions that aim at renewal of self, church and society. This model builds on the enormous power, motivation and enthusiasm that are released when pastoral organizational structures are set up to empower young people for ministry. These structures must be "owned" by the young people themselves so that young people can minister to themselves and others - as opposed to structures that make young people dependent on others doing for them. Throughout, Father Boran provides practical ideas that work within "real" parishes.
