The Story

In May 1886, in the midst of Trinity Term at Oxford, Christ Church is bedeviled by small thefts. But the main suspect, a scout at the college, disappears after a public argument with Charles Dodgson. When he reappears, it's as a corpse, and the only suspect for miles around is Dodgson himself.
