Swimming the Channel

The Story

Wanting all her life to swim the English Channel, Sally Friedman, in her mid-thirties, begins training to make her dream come true, coached by her new husband. But on the day she was to fly to England, her husband was killed in a car accident. Friedman carefully chronicles the shock and depth of her loss, and her slow acceptance of a life entirely unlike the one she had imagined.
