This book sets out the history of the Federal District Court in North Dakota., exploring the political pressures and key personalities associated with the judicial appointments to that court over the past 140 years, from the congressional creation of the Dakota Territory in 1861, through statehood in 1889, to the present day. Organized as a series of biographical sketches, it opens with the juges who served in the territorial court in North Dakotaand proceeds, in chronological order, wioth the ten judges who have served on that district court since 1889, from Judge Alfred Thomas to Judge Rodney Webb.
