The Story

Mary Jo Putney is no stranger to romance readers. Her latest, One Perfect Rose, is the first title to be selected for Ballantine's new collection of classic mass-market-sized hard covers, and it is indeed a perfect rose. Stephen Kenyon, Duke of Ashburton finds out he is dying of a rare disease. As a result he leaves his sheltered world, and does what is least expected of him. He joins a traveling theater group, falls in love, and marries an actress. Their relationship endures many heart-wrenching moments when Ashburton finds he must embrace love and death simultaneously.
