On Mermaid Avenue

The Story

When Mona Rose meets outrageous Edie Hawke in college, it's like falling in love. The two are instantly inseparable. Edie makes the ordinary extraordinary, including Monarose (as she's dubbed by her new best friend). Devoted to the pursuit of happiness after graduation, they dabble at work while concentrating on adventures and men. It's all enchanting until Edie decides not only to marry an ordinary, if not actually phony, man but to have an ordinary, if not hackneyed, wedding--but is it a real plan, or another of Edie's pranks?
