The Story
Notes From the Closet begins with teenagers searching for their own identity and continues with the problems facing women serving in the military. Roseman follows with stories that demonstrate how women in the 60s and 70s balanced careers and motherhood. The book concludes with narratives which show how women's friendships help them adjust to widowhood and illness. Though none of the women are active feminists or practicing lesbians, feminism influences their lives. Through an easy-to-read style, the author brings insights into the complex role of women in the twentieth century in these fictionalized narratives based on real life experiences.
