The Story
The Devil's Gorge, fed by the river Iguaz', is a stunning waterfall 70m. in height, which serves as a barrier separating two National Parks, one in Argentina and the other in Brazil. Both have been declared World Heritage sites, and although separated by political borders, the two areas make up a single ecological unit. In the area surrounding the waterfalls, a virgin rainforest known both as the Atlantic Forest and the Paraenense Jungle has developed, which contains several arboreal and bushy species, some of which are in danger of extinction. The forest hosts animals such as the jaguar, the puma and the tapir (all three protected species), a variety of vertebrates and invertebrates, and a great number of brightly coloured butterflies. This publication is part of a series of guides to specific World Heritage sites established by UNESCO. It contains a pocket-sized printed guide with colour photographs and a map of the area, as well as an interactive DVD.
