The Story

Senator Eleanor ('Norie') Gorzack is new to the job, but she is determined not to be devoured by the assorted fat cats and beasts of prey who roam and rule the corridors of power. Norie may be a political novice, appointed to replace the senator from Pennsylvania who has died in office, but she is anything but naive. She is a woman with integrity and her own agenda - and a woman who learns fast how to survive and succeed in a world where you are smart from the word go or else finish last. High on Norie's agenda is a seat on a committee dealing with the MIA's in Vietnam, where her own husband disappeared during the height of that increasingly long-ago war. Norie does not want the issue buried - but even as she is mastering the moves to land the slot, a Vietnam vet is murdered trying to get to her, and chilling threats start arriving in the mail.
