The Story

Stephan Kirton's hopes for respectability are shattered when his fiancee breaks their engagement. Born illegitimate, Kirton travels abroad and his interaction with lower classes put him outside of polite society. Looking for solace, he heads to an unsavory gambling hall where he spots Annabelle Winston, a proper girl he recalls from his youth. Her descent into this netherworld brings her within his reach, and he is determined to make an honest woman of her.
