The Story

A Day In The Life Of Washington, D.C.: In 3:00AM, the city's monuments and official buildings are lit up in the early morning. At 5:30AM, morning commuters wait for the Metrorail train to arrive. At 6:30AM at the National Zoo, the pandas each eat 50 pounds (23 kg.) of bamboo a day. At 8:00AM, people enjoy walking and biking along the C&O Canal in Georgetown. At 11:00 AM, the 100 United States senators vote on laws in the Senate Chambers. At 12:00 PM, flying disc lovers head to the National Mall for the annual National Frisbee Festival. At 2:00PM, in the 1860's, escaped slaves found shelter in what became known as the Shaw District. At 4:00 PM, a TV reporter interviews a government official in front of the Supreme Court building. At 6:00 PM, surrouned by 2,000 American elm trees, bikes riders, joggers, and walkers get a workout on the National Mall.At 10 PM, workers used high pressure hoses to blast dirt off the Lincoln Memorial. The lighted monuments glow like jewels. Visitors and residents alike enjoy the peacefulness of nighttime in Washington. It's the end of the day for the most, but not for all.
